to Western Michigan Area Health Education Center

Our mission:
To enhance access to quality health care, particularly primary and geriatric care, in underserved areas of the state by improving the supply and distribution of health care professionals through community/academic educational partnerships.

Western Michigan AHEC partners with community health centers, hospitals, educational institutions, and local school districts to meet our mission. The following are examples of our activities:

• Identification of clinical placements for health professional student training & support for student training.
• Partnering with K-12 schools and school districts to encourage interest in healthcare occupations.
• Support for preceptors by providing continuing education opportunities.
